4 Jobs I’ve Held
  1. Wafflehouse Waitress. Okay, it wasn't exactly a wafflehouse, it was/is a diner. But I love the Bill Hicks joke that he tells. He's sittin' in a wafflehouse, reading his book. The waitress comes up and says, "Whatcha readin' for?" Not, "Whatcha readin'?" "Whatcha readin' for?" At which point Bill Hicks thinks for just a second and says, "I suppose it's because I don't want to be a fucking wafflehouse waitress!"
  2. Golf caddy. This was for the Amana V.I.P. in or around 1987. I didn't get paid, it was just for "prestige." I caddied for one day for some guy who was a soap opera star whose name I can't remember.
  3. Radio DJ. Again, unpaid, but sooooooooo much fun. Did you know an FCC license is for life? I earned mine working one shift per week for 89.7fm, KRUI, Iowa City.
  4. Public school teacher. For the past 15 fucking years.

  1. I have to agree on the roast chicken.

I also have to agree on Hellboy, but I would add Better Off Dead, West Side Story and Singin' In The Rain. I loves me Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor. *sigh*

    What's wrong with Margo?

  2. yeah, what's wrong with Margo? There's a perfectly lovely Margo upstairs on the sixth floor, I've known her forever!

That's not what I mean to say. What I meant to say is what on earth is going on with the Denver Real Estate? I thought I lived in Never never land over here on the East Coast where we pay close to a million for a nasty little ranch. Not that the dream house isn't beautiful, I personally think it's perfect. But why, why, why is it worth 4.2 mil? Yoikes!

Roast chicken is on Monday nights. Go to Whole Foods and buy one organic $6 chicken (as opposed to Balduccis where you will pay $20 for the same bird). Rinse, dry and plop said chicken in a cast iron dutch oven with the lid on. Put said oven in 350 degree real oven for 20 minutes per pound. Requires nothing else although extras are always good. If you're partial to crispy skin, this won't cut it, but talk about succulent!

(oh, and I appear to be logged in as Ophelia Dreaming but I'm still ?Alecto; just having one of those multiple personality days apparently)

  3. Personally, I love the name Sadie. A Canadian friend named her daughter Sadie.

If we ever have another daughter, and I can talk Danny into it, she will be named Sadie. (Of course Danny is into strange, strange names that I invariably have to veto. Remember he wanted to name Zoe Epinene?)

  4. There is nothing wrong with Margo. The thing said names I love but would not/could not use. I don't think my hubby would go for it.

And Sadie was my grandma's name, and I know too many babies named Sadie, currently.

    Love the names--wouldn't/couldn't use them.

The housing market in Denver is just fine. That house is right across the street from Phipps Mansion, an historic mansion with tennis courts. Also, did you check out all the photos? My estimate is it's well over 5,000 finished square feet. Plus, it's just over an acre of land, in the middle of one of Denver's fancy neighborhoods. If I had the money, I'd pay 3 million for it.

But I don't know if they'd take it. I bet they can get their asking price for it. Let's keep checking back and see if it sells!
